SIDEPOTS

The ROPERS CLASSIC is changing the game for ropers nationwide.

From the
biggest futurities to local jackpots, we are putting more money on the table.

If your horse is by an enrolled stallion and nominated, you’re eligible — it’s that simple.

Where will sidepots be?

ROPERS CLASSIC will be everywhere ropers want to win money — from major futurities to jackpots across the nation.

In 2026, you’ll see our sidepots at events like:

  • Royal Crown – Buckeye, AZ (February)
  • Wrangler National Finals – Billings, MT (September)
  • Additional major roping futurities and rodeos
  • Select jackpots across the USA

We will be paying sidepots in Team Roping, Breakaway, and Tie Down, including Open ropings all the way down to numbered ropings like the 8.5 — so all levels have a shot at big payouts.

Payout Breakdown (from each sidepot):

  • 60% – Owner
  • 20% – Breeder
  • 20% – Stallion Nominator

This means whether you rope at the top level or in the numbered divisions, you’ll have a new way to win — with no extra entry fees.

Understanding Sidepots

A sidepot is an optional additional entry that allows contestants to compete for extra payout money within the main event. It utilizes the times or scores from the main jackpot to determine sidepot results, creating a bonus competition exclusively for those who enter the sidepot. This means that if you participate in the main event, you can also opt to enter the sidepot for a chance to earn additional rewards.

  • Who can enter the Ropers Classic sidepots?

To be eligible for the Ropers Classic sidepots, you must either be an enrolled stallion or the nominated progeny of an enrolled stallion. Only horses that meet these enrollment requirements can compete for the added payout money.
  • How does the sidepot work?

Contestants entering the main event have the option to enter the sidepot. If they place within the sidepot teams, they earn payouts from the sidepot purse, which is separate from the main jackpot. This allows for additional opportunities to win without requiring extra runs.

  • What are the benefits of entering a sidepot?

Entering a sidepot provides contestants with the chance to increase their earnings. It adds an extra layer of competition and excitement, allowing participants to compete for additional prize money while using their existing scores from the main event.
  • Is there an additional fee for entering the sidepot?

During the first year of the roll out of the Ropers Classic. There will not be a fee to enter sidepots.

We may add a small fee in the future years to increase the sidepot payout pot!

  • How are sidepot results determined?

Sidepot results are determined using the same times or scores from the main jackpot. This means that your performance in the main event directly impacts your standing in the sidepot competition.

Sidepot Payout Structure

The Ropers Classic Sidepot is designed to reward the progeny of enrolled stallions by offering an additional opportunity for competitors to earn money beyond the main payout. Sidepots are paid out separately and do not affect the results or prize structure of the main roping.

  • Jackpot Sidepots

Sidepots will be paid out either end. Meaning payout may be made to a header or a heeler. If both header and heeler are competing on Ropers Classic Nominated Progeny or a Ropers Classic enrolled stallion and their team wins in the sidepot, the payout will results in a tie for 1st/2nd and the total sidepot amount will be split evenly between both contestants.

  • Scored Ropings

For scored roping events, sidepot funds will be split evenly (50/50) between the heading side and the heeling side.

Example : If $5,000 is the total sidepot, $2,500 will be paid to the head side and $2,500 to the heel side.

  • What are the registration requirements?

Contestants must register online during the designated Sidepot registration window. Failing to register before the event will result in ineligibility for Sidepot payouts, as registration confirms participation in qualifying events.
  • What is the No Time / No Score Clause?

To remain eligible for Sidepot winnings, contestants must adhere to the No Time / No Score clause. This ensures that all participants are competing under the same conditions and standards.

Clause: Contestants MUST obtain a qualified time/score.

A NO TIME or NO SCORE will result in automatic removal from Sidepot Payout Eligibility.

  • Do I need to make the Short Go to win sidepot money?

Contestants are not required to make the  short round, but must record at least one qualified time or score within the sidepot eligible rounds.

  • What happens if I miss the registration?

If you miss the registration window, you will not be eligible for Sidepot payouts. It is crucial to register on time to ensure your participation in the Sidepot.
