Each Enrollment year runs from January 1 through December 31. 

Stallion re-enrollment for the next season will open from September 1. Early re-enrollment ensures progeny can be nominated at the reduced early fees and allows time to update stallion promotion materials, keeping your horse visible and promoted across all Ropers Classic marketing channels.

Junior Stallions (progeny not yet 4 years old in the enrollment year - 2026): $1,000/year

Senior Stallions (progeny 4 years or older in the enrollment year 2026): $2,500/year

Your stallion becomes eligible to have his foals nominated for life. 

You will also receive promotion across Ropers Classic platforms, visibility on our website, and 20% of all eligible sidepot earnings from your stallion’s progeny.

If a stallion is enrolled in Ropers Classic and is the horse being competed on, the stallion owner payout is paid to the owner of that competing stallion.

If that stallion’s sire is also enrolled, the stallion owner payout does not transfer or split between generations. The enrolled sire receives stallion owner payouts only when his progeny are competing, not when he is the sire of a competing stallion.

In short: Stallion owner payouts always follow the horse in the arena, not the pedigree.

Any progeny conceived or nominated during an eligible year will remain eligible for life. Future foals will not be eligible unless the stallion is re-enrolled.

If the winning horse’s sire is no longer enrolled, the portion of the payout that would have gone to the stallion owner will be returned to the sidepot payout pool for future Sidepots.

Enrolling your junior stallion early ensures his progeny can enroll at the discounted nomination rate, saving future owners and breeders money while increasing the appeal of his offspring. Early enrollment also locks in eligibility for all future foals, gets your stallion included in Ropers Classic’s nationwide promotion, and builds his reputation before his first foals even hit the arena. 

𝗜𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴:

Foals conceived while the stallion was actively enrolled in the Ropers Classic remain eligible to be nominated. Once a foal is nominated (a one-time nomination fee), it is eligible for Ropers Classic sidepots for life, even if the stallion later passes away.

𝗙𝗿𝗼𝘇𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀:

If the stallion owner continues to breed using frozen semen, the stallion may remain enrolled each year by paying the annual enrollment fee.

Foals conceived with frozen semen while the stallion’s enrollment is current are eligible to be nominated, and once nominated, are eligible for life.

𝗜𝗳 𝗲𝗻𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴:

Once a stallion’s enrollment lapses, any future foals conceived (via frozen semen or otherwise) cannot be nominated for the Ropers Classic, unless the stallion is re-enrolled under special circumstances or by a new owner managing his semen rights.

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆:

Ropers Classic stallion payouts will only be paid in the years the stallion is actively enrolled.

If the stallion is not enrolled in the year his progeny earn money in the sidepots, no stallion payout will be made, and those funds will roll back into the Ropers Classic sidepot account to be added to future sidepots.

𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴:

Foals already nominated remain eligible for life. Their nomination and eligibility are not affected by the stallion’s death.

It’s easy — just visit our Stallions Page and look for your horse’s sire. If your horse’s sire is listed as an enrolled stallion for the current year, your horse is eligible to be nominated.

Complete the online nomination form, upload registration papers, and pay the appropriate one-time nomination fee.

NO! Once a foal is nominated, it’s eligible for Ropers Classic sidepots for life. No renewals required.

No problem — ownership transfers are free. Just submit the form and copy of registration papers with the new owner’s name.

Once enrolled, your horse is eligible for life — no re-nominations, no hidden fees.

Yes! Horses of any age can be nominated as long as their sire is enrolled in the Ropers Classic. Fees vary by age. Early nomination saves the most.

Ropers Classic nominations are issued to an individual horse and are permanent for the life of that horse.

If a nominated horse passes away, is euthanized, becomes permanently disabled, or is otherwise unable to compete, the nomination is considered fulfilled and cannot be:

Transferred to another horse, including a full sibling, half sibling, or any other related horse.

Refunded, either in whole or in part.

Credited toward the nomination of another horse.

This policy applies regardless of the cause of death or loss, including accident, illness, injury, theft, or any other unforeseen circumstance.

We understand that losing a horse is heartbreaking, and our sincere condolences go out to every owner who experiences such a loss. While we sympathize with these situations, maintaining this policy ensures fairness and consistency for all Ropers Classic participants.

The very first Ropers Classic sidepot will debut at the Royal Crown in Buckeye, Arizona, February 2026 — paying out in both the Jackpot Ropings, Breakaway and Tie-Down Roping Events.

No. However, you must complete a short online sidepot entry form prior to competing at each eligible event.

If your horse is a nominated Ropers Classic progeny and you are entering in a participating event, you are eligible for the sidepot! To confirm your entry, you must complete the Ropers Classic Sidepot Entry Form on our website so we know where you are competing.

No problem! If your nominated horse will be ridden by another competitor, simply complete the Ropers Classic Sidepot Entry Form and list the rider’s name as the competitor. This ensures the correct rider is tied to your horse for results and payout tracking.

Yes.

Jackpots: If you rope on the same nominated horse in all of your runs, you are eligible to win multiple sidepot holes.

Breakaway & Calf Roping (Multiple Entries): If you are riding the same nominated horse in all of your runs, you are eligible to win a sidepot hole in each of those runs.
